I have celiac disease and the CEA-HOW (flour-free, sugar-free) plan works marvelously for me, although it is not the same thing. For instance, bread is completely out of my life forever, even though the folks in CEA-HOW and on this plan eat breads like Ezekiel Bread. No one has yet found a way to make gluten-free bread without using SOME kind of flour. But on the other side of that, In the past 5 months I've lost 45 of the 60 pounds I need to lose on this plan, and I give my complaining about "No bread!" to God (my Higher Power).
If your mom is overweight/compulsive eater, this is the way to go.
